Bohemia Design Folklore Votive Stag

Inspired by milagro ‘miracle’ votives, our collection of embossed metal decorations are crafted to bespoke illustrations inspired by Celtic folklore and nature. These decorative charms can be seen as a source of good luck and protection in the way that many cultures have used votive symbols in their homes and holy places over the centuries.

In Celtic folklore the stag is often associated with the deity Cernunnos, the god of the forest and all wild things. Hunting a stag was symbolic of the pursuit of wisdom. The red deer, famous to the Scottish highlands, were referred to as ‘fairy cattle’ as the ancient peoples believed fairies would milk them on the mountain tops.

Hang the votives individually or in groups from the ring attachment on the reverse, or add a velvet ribbon or colourful thread for an extra touch of magic.
