Middleton Ancient Heavyweight Tartan is a green-based tartan with orange checks. Middleton of Conveth is the source of this name. Malcolm Middleton received a charter of the lands of Middleton from King William the Lion of Scotland. The 2nd Earl was one of the principal Secretaries of State for Scotland in 1682. He was loyal to King James II and followed him to France. He was outlawed in 1694 and forfeited in 1695.
