Summerill & Bishop Louis XIV Carved Wax Bust In Royal Blue 35cm

A representation of Louis XIV immortalised in wax.

Immortalised in a 7-meter-high monumental sculpture by François Girardon (1699), the ‘Louis XIV à cheval’ took centre stage Place Vendôme before the statue was raised to the ground in 1792, during the French Revolution.

Today a resident of the Musée du Louvre, the bust still stands tall, reproduced in a smaller scale. An iconic royal figure and messenger of “l’art à la française”, Louis XIV now resides as part of Trudon’s collection of carved candle busts.

Made in Normandy, France.

Please note: Trudon busts are all adorned with a wick, paying tirbute to the primary function of the candle. That being said, these beautiful busts are meant to be collected as decorative items, rather than lit as a candle.
