In nonya ware, one of the most ubiquitous decorative devices is the medallion, and the most popular motif occupying it, that of a phoenix with a flourishing spray of peonies. The medallion has been refined to its most voluptuous, and lends its form to this pewter valet tray, with its ogival 24K gilded rim.
