Nauticalia Genuine D-Day Douglas C-47 'Night Fright' Cufflinks

Douglas C-47 42-100521 'Night Fright' flew with the USAAF 79th troop carrier squadron from Membury Airfield during the second world war, and played an important role on D-Day – delivering troops and equipment taking part in the operation to liberate Europe and bring about an end to the war. She returned from those sorties with more than 100 separate bullet and shrapnel holes – a testament to the aircraft’s design and construction – and is currently being restored, as close to her 5 June 1944 configuration as possible, with a view to returning to the skies as a flying memorial to the men and aircraft which took part in D-Day. This unique set of C-47 cufflinks have been cast and hand finished, by expert UK jewellers, from aluminium recovered from the original airframe during this restoration.
