Stuart of Bute Lightweight Tartan is a muted purple-based tartan with shades of green and blue. Woven using 100% Pure New Wool this tartan is available for made to measure products, accessories, soft furnishings and craft projects. Made here in our mill in Selkirk, Scotland.

Descending from Sir John Stewart, this tartan is based around the lands of Bute, Arran and Cumbrae when they were made into a country by Robert III. Sir John was made hereditary sheriff to the lands, as set out in a Royal Charter of 1400.James Stewart was sheriff of Bute between 1445 and 1449.
