Nova Scotia Canadian Tartan. Nova Scotia is a bright blue-based Canadian tartan with shades of green. This tartan was to become the first officially recognized Canadian Provincial tartan being approved by Lieutenant Governor in Council in September 1955. The tartan was inspired by the Flag of Nova Scotia which is a reverse of the Scottish Saltire with the Royal Standard superimposed.
