Mowat Modern Lightweight Tartan is a classic green-based tartan with shades of blue and a yellow overcheck. Woven using 100% Pure New Wool this tartan is available for made to measure products, accessories, soft furnishings and craft projects. Made here in our mill in Selkirk, Scotland.

Believed to be of Norman origin the Mowats settled in Scotland in the 12th century. They acquired lands of Ferne, in Angus, during the reign of King William the Lion and rose to high positions. Some of the names are found in the Highlands and Orkney and Shetland. The northern Mowats appear to have been septs of Clan Sutherland.
