Marshall Ancient Tartan. Marshall Ancient is a bright green-based tartan with shades of blue. This surname means "Horse Servant" and might be interpreted as "farrier". It is on record in Scotland in the 12th century. The name is found in Aberdeenshire at an early date, also in Glasgow and St. Andrews. In the process of time, the office of Marshal became one of great dignity.
