Modern MacQueen Medium Weight Tartan is a dark red-based tartan with a black check.

Of West Highland origin, the MacQueens appear to have associated themselves with the Clan Donald. Several Hebridean MacQueens settled in Strathdearn and became septs of Clan Chattan. They possessed Corryburgh in the 16th century and appear to have been quite strong at this time. Robert McQueen, the well-known lawyer, who became Lord Braxfield, belonged to a Lanarkshire family of MacQueens
