Modern MacGregor Medium Weight Tartan is a red-based tartan green and white checks. One of the most famous clans, the MacGregors claim royal descent from Grigor, sone of King Alpin, who flourished in the 8th century. As a result of their lawlessness their name and part of their lands were proscribed. The MacGregor chief supported Prince Charlie and fought at the Battle of Culloden in 1746.
