Cunningham Modern tartan is a traditional red and black based tartan with a black and white overcheck. Ayrshire is the home of this family where they were settled in the 12th century. For bravery at the Battle of Largs in 1263 Hervey de Cunningham received the lands of Kilmaur's from the King.
