Borthwick Dress Modern is a colourful purple and green based tartan. The name is said to have originated from Borthwick Water, in Roxburghshire. In 1410, Sir William Borthwick obtained a charter confirming his possession of the lands in the Borders and Midlothian, and the family quickly rose to power.
