Ikon Ikon Sculpture & Installation Bundle

This catalogue bundle focuses on artists working predominantly in sculpture, as well as installation.

Richard Deacon remains pre-eminent amongst contemporary British artists, at once an extremely influential figure and refreshing through his constant innovation. This publication accompanied his Ikon exhibition Personals (2007), comprising sculptural pieces in ceramic and steamed wood, wall and pencil drawings, and off-site work; including bricks made from brightly coloured plastic off-cuts set into a pavement near Ikon.

For Barry Flanagan, sculpture was as much performance, sound, light as it was bronze and carving. The exposure of process and method is something he consistently performed in every medium he used throughout his career. He frequently used casts of objects as components in sculptures and allowed bits of the armature to show through stripes of clay or plaster. This catalogue includes installation photography of his exhibition at Ikon in 2019.

Sofia Hultén: Here’s the Answer, What’s the Question? Through a combination of sculptures, photographs and films, Hultén conveys an ongoing preoccupation with the material world and how we navigate it through time. She develops philosophical propositions out of stuff found on the streets, or unwanted abject things, thrown away, reinforcing the idea of looking twice at what is all-too-often taken for granted.
