Ikon Ikon IKON 60

This Limited Edition screen print accompanies the 2024 Exhibition at Ikon Gallery: Start The Press.

In collaboration with Ikon Gallery, it was designed and printed in South Birmingham by James Turner at Stirchley Print Works.

Taking inspiration from the first years of Ikon Gallery's marketing archive, James chose to pull the iconic yellow tone from a poster from the 1960's advertising an exhibition of John Salt's paintings.

The black overlay is a direct nod to the windows of the School of Art & Design at the University of Wolverhampton, which is home to the large printing press that resides in Ikon's first floor galleries for the duration of the exhibition.

The title at the base, 'IKON 60' is a new twist to Ikon's earliest logo and branding, to celebrate our 60th year.

IKON 60 is printed with Premaset Premium inks, known for being vegan, 100% solvent-free, and eco-friendly and is printed on PC100 Neenah Environment 324gsm paper, which holds certifications like FSC, Green-e, and Green Seal.
