The Shella Bag unites two Atlantic traditions: Portuguese handwoven reed basketry and the Galician art of shell embroidery by the Colareiras of O Grove. These women, heirs to a craft dating back to the late 19th century, gather shells from the beaches and compose them into delicate floral motifs — a practice born in a matriarchal society and preserved to this day.
