I’m spending the summer with my dad, and it’s hard to let go of the stress from college finals for the first few days. Just being with my dad and having no responsibilities turns me into my most carefree self, but the stress is causing horrible nightmares. In them, I’m being suffocated by a pile of stuffies with red demon eyes.

I could never keep a secret from Daddy, so when I wake up screaming, he rushes into my bedroom and scoops me up and sits on the bed and cuddles me in his arms. I tell him everything about the stupid stuffies, knowing it sounds crazy. He kisses my head and rubs circles on my back while I cry.
