The early morning sun softly kisses her chocolate skin as the sheet slips away from her body amidst her languid stretch. Her deep brown eyes open and immediately find mine. She smiles and reaches out to me.

“Come back to bed, Esther.”

I take one last look at the quiet street below. Most of New Orleans was sleeping off last night’s Mardi Gras indiscretions. I was guilty of a few sins of my own, having spent most of the night stealing honey from between Nima’s thighs.

“We don’t have much time.”

Her voice is sensual and urgent, reminding me we only had a short time together. I leave the balcony and take off my robe and Persian identity on my way to the bed.  I become just Esther, a woman in love with another woman.
