The Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary is an increasingly rare butterfly. To give these butterflies a 'helping hand', the National Trust and its volunteers planted more than 20,000 marsh violets across the Shropshire Hills, the largest planting of its kind in the UK. The Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary is one of four species the Trust are focused on helping to ensure their long-term survival in the Shropshire Hills.
