History: After 13 straight losing seasons and a team batting average of .190 in 1968, the Vanderbilt Commodores Baseball team finally broke through to the winning side, posting a 21-18 record in 1969. They were led by second-year Head Coach Larry Schmittou, who would go on to bring Vandy their first two SEC Divisional and Conference Championships between 1971-1974. They have since become a perennial SEC powerhouse.
