History: Princeton has been playing organized baseball since 1864. They were also one of the teams that participated in the first-ever televised baseball game in 1939, where they took on Ivy League compatriots Columbia. The final standings of the 1947 Eastern Intercollegiate League (E.I.L.) season found the Princeton Tigers baseball team jumbled in a second place, three-way tie, with Ivy League rivals Columbia and Harvard under rookie skipper Matt Davidson.
