Some sailors favour a bucket hat for sun protection and glare reduction on the water. It’s a practical choice – less prone to flapping in the breeze than a broad-brimmed hat, and less likely to get blown off your head when you’re looking up to check the set of the mainsail.

Our Castell bucket hat is quick-drying and water repellent, with UPF-50 sun block protection. The retention cord stops it going overboard when you’re sailing in strong winds, and is easily removable for use in calmer conditions. The lightweight fabric also floats if it does end up in the sea.
