Traditional Luckenbooth double heart pendant featuring Love Birds crafted in Sterling Silver.

This item is part of the Luckenbooth collection. Originally the heart shaped luckenbooth was given, in the 16th century, at weddings and engagements as a token of love. From the 18th century onwards they were worn to protect against evil spirits. The name comes from the locking booths or small shops they where sold from, a feature of Edinburghs Royal Mile.
