Harris Tweed is one of the rarest and most loved fabrics in the world. To carry the name, by Act of Parliament, Harris Tweed must be hand-woven by the islanders of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra, in the far-flung Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Woven by hand in the crofters' cottages, using pure virgin wool that has been dyed and spun locally, it is the world's only commercially produced hand-woven tweed.

When purchasing a Harris Tweed item, we recommend that you first purchase a swatch of the material first, so that you are completely happy with your chosen fabric. Colours shown on screen can vary in accuracy dependent on the colour display of your computer, so a swatch in hand can put your mind at ease. Please note that due to the weaving process batches of tweed can vary, so the swatch you order may be subtly different from the fabric.

The price of one swatch per garment can be deducted from any future purchase of Harris Tweed product in that fabric, priced at 100GBP (ex vat) or more. The size of the swatch will vary from mill to mill, but will always be enough to give you a good idea of what to expect.
