ABOUT THE COLLECTOR

Dr. Robert V. Elam, PhD (1937-2015) was a professor of history and anthropology at various colleges and universities from Massachusetts to California for 30 years. He began collecting tribal and folk art in the 1960s and opened his first gallery, Fourth World Art, in 1981. Bob exuded a passion for ethnology and loved sharing comparisons and interpretations of cross-cultural art.
