Released on Friday the 13th, and inspired by the rich and distinctive character of Slavic mythology, the Baba Yaga pen pays tribute to the many masters who have immortalized this vivid, satirical, and not always villainous image of the forest witch in their works — across literature, visual arts, and music. From the books of Sarah Porter, Katherine Arden, Joanna Cole, and Orson Scott Card, to the paintings, sculptures, and illustrations by artists such as Viktor Vasnetsov, Forest Rogers, Rima Staines, Edmund Dulac, and Kinuko Y. Craft — and, of course, the vivid musical compositions of Modest Mussorgsky — this pen honors the legacy of a timeless archetype that continues to inspire across cultures and generations.

This striking design by our artist Natalia Doronkina features Baba Yaga’s face subtly framed within the shape of her iconic hut, blending witch and dwelling into one haunting image. A murder of crows flies across a blood-red sky, while a golden moon casts an eerie glow over twisted trees and a floating lantern. A lone raven watches from a gnarled branch as red and gold glints flicker through the dark woods. The painting evokes the witch’s presence as part of the forest itself — guardian, guide, and gatekeeper.

Available with either a gold-plated stainless steel nib or a 14ct gold nib, the Baba Yaga pen is a spellbound relic — crafted for those who find beauty where others fear to look.
